I absolutely loved Benjamin Law's article on thrifty gifts in issue #23 of Frankie magazine. Hilarious!
Coincidentally, my little sister had a birthday last week. To celebrate she invited mostly friends and some family yo her Ominous 18th; so a zombie graveyard birthday cake was quite fitting for the occasion.
My interpretation of Lesley's Zombie Cake was complete with decapitated baby Bratz dolls and a madman wielding a bloody chain-saw. While i was 'altering' the figurines with a butane gas BBQ lighter, my housemate pondered the question: What kind of irresponsible parents actually buy these toys for their children? That i do not know, I am however confident that the Australian Woman's Weekly might be interested in this recipe for their next addition of the Birthday Cake Cookbook! Nothing could ever outdo the original so many of us born in the 80's grew up with, but I would like to see more littlens blowing out the candles to their own morbidly decorated celebratory cake.
I never imagined that a horrific chain-saw massacre scene atop a chocolate cake could bring so many people together. A big thank-you to Frankie for making my little sister's birthday special.
Love sew.
